„Die Sagen, die der Erde sich entfernen,
Vom Geiste, der gewesen ist und wiederkehret,
Sie kehren zu der Menschheit sich, und vieles lernen
Wir aus der Zeit, die eilends sich verzehret.“

– Friedrich Hölderlin: Der Herbst, 1837, Verse 1–4

"The stories that are leaving earth that are
About the spirit that was here and will return
They turn our way again and we can learn
Much from time that wastes faster and faster."

– Friedrich Hölderlin: Autumn, 1837, Verse 1–4, translated by David Constantine

Arhun Aksakal (*1995, Offenbach, Germany) lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2020 he studies at the Städelschule in the class of Willem De Rooij. After studying geology in Frankfurt am Main, he studied visual arts in Kassel in the class of Bjørn Melhus and then in the class of Dr. Andrea Büttner. With the DAAD Scholarship 2018, Arhun Aksakal stayed in the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan at the Academy of Art Sulaimani. This was followed by an Erasmus scholarship in Venice, Italy, at the Università Iuav di Venezia in 2019–2020.
