What can be read as a romantically longing union of two lovers unfolds double- minded energies in the light of our urban nightlife and celebration culture. While at festivals the state-regulated excess is offered within a convincingly produced simulation of freedom, in transit areas such as Frankfurt‘s station district ecstatic methods of cognition grow together. Autonomous of time dials and the position
of the sun, an ambivalent game between escapism, hedonism and arrest runs and marks one of the signatures of our contemporary world. Looking at themselves in the reflection of the skyscrapers, dionysian self-destructors and hedonistic pragma- tists fill up the street grids. All are waiting for the same - an experience, their man - twenty-six dollars in my hand.

Natalie Wilke (*1990, Kaiserslautern, Germany) lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. She studied media art in Mainz in the class of Prof. Dieter Kiessling and then in the film class of John Skoog. In 2020 she became Meisterschülerin under Prof. Dieter Kiessling.
